Responsibilities Include:

  • Work within a group of health and safety professionals to improve processes that reduce workplace injuries and illnesses for City of Philadelphia employees.
  • Conduct inspections, job safety analyses, assessments, and investigations for a wide variety of operations and recommend controls to improve workplace safety.
  • Evaluate environmental and human factors to improve conditions and work practices.
  • Develop new and improve existing safety and health programs related to occupational health and ergonomics.
  • Develop and administer programs and training related to bloodborne and biological exposures.
  • Facilitate the musculoskeletal injury prevention program through data analysis, program development, training and awareness initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver health and safety training in a wide variety of settings.
  • Manage and analyze injury reporting data for city agencies to understand department level trends and claim experience.
  • Conduct incident trend analyses and develop metrics reports to establish accountability for safety program improvements.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.
  • At least one year of experience in occupational safety and health.
  • Ability to create relationships and enlist the cooperation of departmental safety coordinators and leaders to improve occupational safety and health practices.
  • Skilled in prioritizing projects and requests to meet client goals, objectives and schedules.
  • Experience producing effective written reports and communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
